Based on the criteria of clarity, Wysocki (2009: 327) defined 4 management â€Å"quadrants† adopting 5 PMLC models:  § TPM: Linear and Incremental  § APM: Iterative and Adoptive  § xPM and MPx: Extreme Each type of the 5 PMLC models is expected to encounter various risks and failure factors. The PM should asses the risks associated with each model, to decide the most convenient approach. Linear PMLC Model This model is the simplest among the illustrated models, since the 5 process groups are expected to occur once in the entire PMLC within the planned sequence (Wysocki, 2009: 343). A PM would adopt the linear model if the project undertaken is: clear in the aspects of goals and solutions, similar to previously executed projects, short in duration and falling in a single department’s authority. However, and despite the simplicity associated with implementing this model; Wysocki (2009: 350-353) defined six weakness points for the linear model: limited flexibility to scope changes, high cost, last minute production of deliverables, requires early detailed planning, fixed sequence of work, and lake of focus on client value. I believe that scope changes are the most challenging risk associated with this model. Iterative and Adaptive PMLC Model Despite the differences between the two models, both are having common risks: need for client’s involvement and undefined deliverables (Wysocki, 2009: 396-411). Franchina (2010) recommended two practical solutions:  § During the planning process, the client’s involvements should be clearly reflected on the work schedule and accountability matrix should be defined; In addition, during the planning and controlling process, the client must be aware of the developed cost estimates, to decide the feasibility of the project against the expectations. Extreme PMLC Model The name of this model explains the amount of risk associated with the adoption. Since neither the goal nor the solutions are defined, the PM would be facing two major risks: uncertainty of solutions approach and the uncertainty of achieving materialized business values. Franchina (2010) defined two mitigating actions, firstly, that the client should clearly understand, in the early stages, that his investment in a certain stage might be totally lost due to the undefined solutions, and that he might need to re-finance the project all over again. Secondly, the contractual documents might state clearly the associated risks to diminish the business-value liability of the provider. Conclusion All of the 5 PMLC models are expected to encounter risks and failures. In the iterative model, scope changes are the most serious risk, by developing contingency plans and scope change’s strict policies risks would be mitigated. In the incremental model, developing a plan that utilizes the key player’s time along the definition of each role method statement/methodology, the risk of project’s team lack of intact would be mitigated. In the iterative and adaptive models, by defining client’s responsibility along the planning process and updating the client with the budgetary progress, risks would be mitigated. As I Lay Dying Essay -- Literary Analysis, William Faulkner

William Faulkner’s portrayal of women, Addie Bundren specifically, in As I Lay Dying presents an interesting look into the gender politics of the south in the 1930s. Addie lies at the heart of the novel; yet despite being the heart, her presence for most of the story is as a corpse. Faulkner only gives her one chapter to explain herself; and it is her desire to be buried in Jefferson that sets in motion everything that happens in the novel. There is a profound tension at work between words and Truth her chapter: Addie ascribes no value to words, they are nothing more than dead sounds. And despite her claim that words are â€Å"quick and harmless†, she is tricked by them, and relies on them to take her revenge on Anse. While the word â€Å"sin† means nothing to Addie, she is nevertheless consumed by the idea of Sin. The fundamental problem for the reader is how to decipher a chapter of words when Addie says they are empty shapes. Addie’s nihilistic approach to language reveals her attempt to escape her subjugation as a woman: as a â€Å"woman†, Addie cannot help but fall into the traps of â€Å"wife† and â€Å"mother†, and their associated duities. Addie’s chapter placement complicates the novel, as it is placed after she dies; Faulkner does not make it clear whether he is presenting her voice from beyond the grave or if this is supposed to have taken place sometime in the past. From the very beginning of the chapter, Addie shows a darkness in her heart that the reader has not seen before. She hates children (169). She hates her father for bringing her into the world; and telling her that the â€Å"reason for living [is] to get ready to stay dead a long time† (169). She doesn’t appear to take any pleasure in living, except when she punishes her st... ...idelity; she â€Å"merely took the precautions that he thought necessary for his sake, not for [her] safety, but just as [she] wore clothes in the world’s face† (175). She continues her rebellion in her treatment of Jewel: rather than treating Jewel worse because he is a constant reminder of his sin, he is her favorite child, believing that he will save her from the water and the fire (168)—which Jewel does in turn; he rescues her body from the river, and single handedly carries her body from Gillespie’s burning barn. She identifies Jewel as her savior because he is the symbol of her rebellion. Addie’s carries out her final, and most damning act of revenge, by making Anse promise to take her body to Jefferson. This request places Addie’s dead family explicitly above Anse and her children, and she knows that Anse will carry it out because he is bound by his word.

As the war continued more bombs came and one hit their home. It was a nice house with many rooms and her father had a good job and with that nice income. But this first bomb destroyed everything they had to move and but the worst her father lost his legs. As they kept moving their housing began to shrink every time they had a smaller house until now t hey only have 1 room in a half destroyed apartment. This doesn’t give anyone of her family any privacy so they have a tuff time with that.Also her father now since he can read and write works on the marked and reads letters for money. Also they sell their family belongings. Parvana actually gets a chance to go outside because she has to help her dad walk since he also sold his fake legs. When the Taliban see her, her father always finds a good excuse so nothing really happens. CHAPTER ONE (p. 7-18) 1. Why does Parvana have to hide her face and voice when she goes to the marketplace with her father? What will happen if she doesn’t? The Taliban who at that stage rule the country don’t allow any female to be outside their house except if they wear a burqa and have a male guardian.They are only allowed to show their hair and face to close relatives. Parvana can only come outside on the marked because her father needs help to walk and since he doesn’t has any other child strong enough it as to be Parvana. She can show her face because she is still a child and no women. She is not supposed to talk because she isn’t supposed to be out of the house so she should act as if she wasn’t there. Mostly the Taliban are fine with it that Parvana helps her father and there is no other option. But if a older women would do the same and not be totally covered she would be punished badly. . How old is Parvana? How is age significant for a girl living in a society governed by the Taliban? Parvana is 11. This is important because it shows she is still a child. Because she asks her self the question if their families would be mad and if the dead person themselves would. 2. When Parvana has to go to the bathroom in the middle of the day, she is very scared.
